Bay Area Journalists Are Invited to Host Mealtime Conversations on Housing Crisis

Renaissance Journalism invites Bay Area journalists and news organizations to host an “On the Table” mealtime conversation with community residents to discuss the housing crisis.

You pick the day and time, select the locale (e.g. local restaurant, your home, your office), plan the meal, and invite 5 to 10 guests. Renaissance Journalism will reimburse you for the cost of the meals up to $250.

About On the Table

On the Table was originally organized by the Silicon Valley Community Foundation (SVCF) as a one-day event of community building on November 15, 2017. It was a huge success. An estimated 700 hosts led On the Table conversations with more than 7,000 participants from throughout the Bay Area.

As part of Renaissance Journalism’s latest initiative, the Bay Area Media Collaborative, (BAMC), several journalists and news organizations, including KALW, San Francisco Public Press and the Half Moon Bay Review, participated in the one-day event. They reported that it was a powerful and effective way for journalists to communicate and connect with the local communities they serve.

Given this positive response, we’re thrilled to be able to offer Bay Area journalists and their news organizations an opportunity to host On the Table community engagement event in 2018.
