Panel Explores What Works in Education

Join Kristina Rizga, Mother Jones' education reporter and the author of Mission High, for an engaging conversation with two award-winning San Francisco teachers, Pirette McKamey and Robert Roth, who have been successfully closing achievement gaps in their classrooms for 28 years. The Equity Reporting Project: Restoring the Promise of Education

Renaissance Journalism has selected 31 talented journalists to participate in its national fellowship program aimed at addressing the educational opportunity gap. The Equity Reporting Project: Restoring the Promise of Education seeks to stimulate in-depth reporting and robust community engagement about the profound disparity in access to educational resources and opportunities — both inside and outside of schools — between the rich and the poor.

Launch of New Initiative on the Educational “Opportunity Gap”

Beginning with a cohort of 11 reporters from the West Coast, Renaissance Journalism is launching a two-year national initiative that will examine the educational “opportunity gap.” The Equity Reporting Project: Restoring the Promise of Education is designed to stimulate compelling, in-depth reporting and robust community engagement on a problem that is becoming ever more critical as the economic divide between rich and poor expands in the United States.
